Policies & Procedures

Policies and procedures are subject to change. Studio members should read through policy pages at least once a session.
Karrine, as instructor, will:
  • Cater each lesson to the student's individual needs and learning style
  • Strive to make each lesson worthwhile and fun
  • Continue professional development
  • Communicate with parents & students regularly, especially through weekly lesson notes
  • Determine goals with the student
  • Provide teaching materials such as games, instruments, visual & kinesthetic aids for lessons
The student will:
  • Be positive & have fun!
  • Be open to experiencing new kinds of music & skills
  • Practice daily according to goals set during lesson time
  • Record daily practice as requested
  • Remember all books and materials needed for lessons
The parent* will:
  • ​Read studio policies thoroughly
  • Read each student's lesson notes weekly, and check for other messages from the studio
  • Encourage regular daily practice
  • Provide a space for the student to practice free from distraction
  • Pay tuition on time (by the 8th of the month), by whatever method is most convenient
  • Communicate any concerns or needs to the instructor
  • Notify the instructor as soon as possible if the student needs to miss a lesson. (See "Missed Lessons" portion of Policies)

*Please note that adult students will take on both the responsibilities of the student and the parent as listed above.
DAPS will:
  • Establish tuition rates
  • Send an invoice each month to the parent's email
  • Schedule performance opportunities, recitals, group activities, master classes, and field trips​
