A generous gift from community member Faith Lerner is making a big difference for students at DeForest Area Piano Studio.

Faith taught herself to play the piano as a young girl when she visited her aunt who had an organ. Once she was a little older, she was able to take lessons and played in elementary school, accompanying the choir. As an adult, she was fortunate to find this Kurtzmann baby grand piano, and has played it and cherished it for over 25 years. Her granddaughter has learned to play on this piano as well.

"My mother-in-law has recently moved to an assisted living facility and blessed us with her Steinway piano! Out of gratitude to her, and for having the opportunity to play the piano all these years, I decided I wanted to pass the gift forward and donate my baby grand to another generation of piano enthusiasts. I am delighted to have found Karrine and the DeForest Area Piano Studio to pass my piano to. I know it will continue to be played and loved and it makes my heart so happy to think of a new generation of music lovers enjoying this beautiful instrument."

Our new Kurtzmann baby grand has a bright tone and a lot of power. Students are already enjoying learning about the inner workings of the instrument. We are very excited to get better acquainted with this piano, and grateful to Faith for her gift!
